Prof. Narges Norouzi - Narges did her M.A.Sc. and Ph.D. at UofT working on alcohol withdrawal tremor detection (a technology that is now widely used in hospitals) as well as analyzing the impact of teaching in large scale MOOCs.  She is currently a Professor of Computer Science at the University of California at Santa Cruz. 

Alexander Karpenko - Alex did his M.A.Sc. at UofT working on video retrieval and searching, resulting in several publications including an IEEE Trans. PAMI paper.  He then went to Stanford for his Ph.D. and went on to start Luma Camera, which was acquired by Instagram/Facebook and became the basis of the highly successful Instagram Hyperlapse app.

Dr. Ron Appel - Ron did his M.A.Sc. at UofT working on converting images into maps.  He did his PhD in deep learning at CalTech

Prof. Maryam Modir Shanechi - Maryam did her undergraduate thesis at UofT working on finding an equation to relate the phases in audio signals and the accuracy of speech recognition system.  She ended up co-authoring several publications including an IEEE Trans. Speech and Audio processing paper, as well as co-authoring a textbook (Yes!  All while she was in undergrad).  She went on to do her Ph.D. at MIT and currently is a Professor and the Viterbi Early Career Chair in the ECE department at USC.

Dr. Omid Jahromi - Omid did his postdoc at UofT working on multi-sensor array data processing.  He is currently a senior machine learning engineer of Belkin.

Dr. Alireza Rabi - Ali did his undergraduate thesis at UofT working on the simulation of plastic surgery, resulting in several publications.  He went on do to his MD/PhD at Johns Hopkins University including significant research contributions to understanding and finding a cure for HIV.

Dr. Guangji Shi - Guangji did his Ph.D. at UofT working on speech enhancement.  He is currently the principal engineer of R&D at DTS.

Dr. Steven Rennie - Steve did his Ph.D. at UofT working on AI systems for speech enhancement.  He is currently a research scientist at IBM Research.

Dr. Sam Mavandadi - Sam did his Ph.D. at UofT on an rotation-invariant image transform for object detection.  He is currently a senior associate, Canadian Pension Plan Investment Board.

Dr. Nevena Lazic - Nevena did her Ph.D. at UofT on machine learning.  She is currently a research scientist at Google.

Dr. Bob Mungamuru - Bob did his M.A.Sc. at UofT working on sound localization.  He is currently a vice president at Goldman Sachs.

Sarah Ali - Sarah did her M.A.Sc. at UofT for optimized audio UI.  She is currently the head of Product - Living Room at YouTube.

Dr. Alborz Mahdavi - Alborz worked as an undergraduate intern at UofT.  He then went on to do his Ph.D. at CalTech.

Amin Heidari - Amin did his M.A.Sc. at UofT working on multi-sensor object tracking.  He is currently an engineer at Plastic Mobile.

Tusi Chowdhury - Tusi did her M.A.Sc. at UofT on extended touch detection.  She is currently a software engineer at Apple.

Dr. Arezou Keshavarz - Arezou was an undergraduate intern at UofT.  She is currently a software engineer at Google.

Dr. Azadeh Khaleghi - Azadeh was an undergraduate intern at UofT.  She is currently a lecturer in statistics at Lancaster University.

Wenzhi Guo - Wenzhi did her M.A.Sc. at UofT working on Heuristics-Based Deep Neural Networks.  She is currently the director of R&D at ModiFace.

Anthony Badali - Anthony did his M.A.Sc. at UofT working on dynamically-sized visual ads.  He is current a vice president of Capital Markets at RBC.

Teodor Ivanov - Teodor did his M.A.Sc. at UofT working on acoustically guided robots.  He is currently a vice president at Merrill Lynch.

David Halupka - David did his M.A.Sc. at UofT working on VLSI systems for spatial audio processing.  He is currently a system architect at Kapik Integration.

Jerry Lam - Jerry did his M.A.Sc. at UofT working on neural networks for face detection.  He is currently a senior data engineer at Canopy Labs.

Keith Zhou - Keith did his M.A.Sc. at UofT working on 3D painting with audio.  He is currently a software engineer at Two Sigma.

Calvin Lai - Calvin did his M.A.Sc. at UofT working on multi-microphone speech recognition.  He is currently an associate director at Scotia Capital.
